It is also an ideal location for a road trip as every part of the island has something to offer. Depending on your location, you can travel to the majority of these locations in no more than two hours. And if you assume this is a flat island with straight streets, you will be surprised by its amazing hills and canyons which you can explore by car.
Our adventure began with a stroll through the capital, Puerto del Rosario, where we enjoyed delicious tapas. Yet Fuerteventura’s natural beauty is what really makes it magical.

But Fuerteventura isn’t just for the adventurous. The island is dotted with charming villages like Betancuria, where time seems to stand still. Here, we wandered through narrow streets, visited historical sites, and enjoyed the tranquility of that hidden gem in the middle of the island.

How to plan your trip
Fuerteventura is definitely a destination that can be visited all year round. The weather is warm and relatively dry throughout the year, and it’s almost always windy. In winter, the temperature drops a few degrees, so if you enjoy swimming, it’s better to visit in the summer. However, most activities can be enjoyed year-round.
The island offers many attractions, whether in the north, south, or central areas. There’s something to see everywhere. I recommend planning your trip so that you explore a different part of the island each day. It might also be a good idea to change hotels during your stay. You could spend a few days in the south to explore that part of the island, and then stay in the north for the remaining days to discover that region.
Flights
Our trip to Fuerteventura was relatively spontaneous, but the journey was still easy to organize. Because of our last-minute decision to visit the island, there weren’t many direct flights available for our preferred return date.However, the advantage of Fuerteventura is that it’s part of the Canary Islands, so you can fly to one of the other islands and transfer there.
We took advantage of this option and booked our return flight through Gran Canaria. The flight between the islands takes only about 25 minutes, and boarding is relatively quick since small planes are used, and there are no long queues at the terminal.
Hotels
There are many choices among the hotels in Fuerteventura to fit every taste and budget. It’s particularly recommended to choose your hotel’s location strategically to make the most of your exploration of the island. Changing hotels during your stay can be beneficial, allowing you to fully experience both the relaxed southern part and the vibrant northern region of the island.
During my stay in Fuerteventura, I had the pleasure of staying at the Sol Fuerteventura Jandía – All Suites, and it was truly a highlight of the trip. The hotel’s location couldn’t be better – just a few steps from the beautiful beaches that make this island so special. The hotel offers spacious suites that are perfect for families or couples looking for a bit more space and comfort.
We’ve booked the Junior Suites with sea views, which offer a stunning view of the Atlantic Ocean. The suites are modern and stylishly decorated, with a separate living area and spacious balcony that makes it really cozy.
Another plus is the variety of amenities the hotel offers. The pool area is ideal for relaxing days, and the option to have direct access to the pool from the room was a special extra that I really enjoyed. Overall, Sol Fuerteventura Jandía – All Suites is an excellent choice for a restful and comfortable stay in Fuerteventura.
